Al-siraat (The bridge) on the day of judgment

           The day of judgment is full of terrors and different stages until every person is positioned in his place; Jannah or Hell. Al-Siraat or the Bridge is a scene of the Day of judgment’s scenes. The Sirat is a bridge that will be set up over Hell over which people will pass according to their deeds. Some will pass as fast as the blink of an eye, or as fast as lightning, or as fast as the wind, or as fast as swift horses. The prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said in Hadith Sahih Muslim describing Al-Siraat ”Then the bridge would be set up over the Hell and intercession would be allowed and they will say: O God, keep safe, keep safe. It was asked: Messenger of Allah, what is this bridge? He said: The void in which one Is likely to slip. There would be hooks, tongs, spits like the thorn that is found in Najd and is known as Sa’dan. The believers would then pass over within the twinkling of an eye, like lightning, like wind, like a bird, like the finest horses and camels. Some will escape and be safe, some will be lacerated and let go, and some will be pushed into the fire of Hell till the believers will find rescue from the Fire.” Your deeds in Dunia determine your state on the Siraat, if you were the type pf person who held tight to his religion and the teaching of the prophet Muhammad, you will pass this Bridge quickly without exposing to any dangers of the Bridge. All human beings will cross the Siraat, Allah said in Surah Marriam, Ayahs 71 and 72 ”And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed. Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.

Good deeds to save you in the day of judgment

       On this day, you will have no chance! People will wish if they can return to life to do good deeds and to believe in Allah, but it will said to them that ”all the chances are over”. Thus, it is better for us to be prepared to this day. The prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) gave us an amazing plan if we want to survive the terrors of the day of the Judgment. He said ”

“Verily, I saw something wondrous last night;

I saw a man of my nation as angels were holding him back, and his ablution came to save him from that,

I saw a man of my nation surrounded by devils, and the remembrance of Allah came to free him from them,

I saw a man of my nation suffering from extreme thirst, and his fasting in Ramadan came to give him drink,

I saw a man of my nation with darkness before him, darkness behind him, darkness to his right, darkness to his left, darkness above him, and darkness below him, and his pilgrimages came to bring him out of darkness,

I saw a man of my nation to whom the angel of death came to take his soul, and his righteousness to his parents came and turned the angel back,

I saw a man of my nation to whom the believers would not speak, and his maintenance of family ties came and it said, ‘Verily, he is one who has maintained family ties, so speak to him,’ and he became one of them,

I saw a man of my nation come to people sitting in circles and every circle he came to drove him away, and his ritual bath from major impurity led him by the hand and seated him next to them,

I saw a man of my nation shielding his face from the heat of the Hellfire, and his charity came to give him shade and cover his face,

I saw a man of my nation to whom the angels of punishment came, and his enjoining good and forbidding evil came to save him from that,

I saw a man of my nation falling into the Hellfire, and the tears which he shed for reverence of Allah came to pull him out of the Fire,

I saw a man of my nation whose scroll fell into his left hand, and his fear of Allah came to place his scroll in his right hand,

I saw a man of my nation swaying in the wind like a palm tree, and his good thoughts of Allah came to calm his shaking,

I saw a man of my nation crawling across the bridge over Hell, at times kneeling, at times clinging to it, and his blessings over me came to take him by the hand and stand him up upon the bridge until he passed over it,

I saw a man of my nation who was stopped at the gates of Paradise and every gate was locked for him, and his testimony that there is no God but Allah came to take him by the hand and lead him into Paradise.” (al-Mu’jam al-Kabīr)
